Another Mobile Network?
Information reaching this press has revealed that the Government of Sierra Leone has secured a private mobile network for Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDA’s).
The idea behind the purchase of the said equipment, according to information, is to ease the workload on the ministries and secondly to cut down the cost of communication on the ministries in discharging government functions. The service will be free according to information.
The network according to our source has its own SIM pack and phone, meaning its SIM pack does not work in other GSM phones and vise visa.
We learnt further that the service is presently available in some provincial towns like Magburaka, Makeni, Moyamba, Bo, Kenema and Bumbuna but hastily added that the service will soon be extended to other areas of the country.
The network is presently being installed at State House.
The people interviewed on the installation said, the initiative is undoubtedly a very laudable venture, what they doubt and cannot confirm however is the confidentiality or privacy of the users.
