Lungi International Airport has been upgraded to any classic International airport, a frequent traveller working for one the mining companies in the country told our reporter
The airport now has 14 check in counters, 8 airline offices, 4 boarding gates, flight information display, new baggage conveyors, fire alarms, close circuit television, a very modern public address system, and more features.
Delays on administrative arrangements at the airport have been re-arranged and they are now consistent with International Standards as it is mandatory for all passengers to go through security check and proper scrutiny, before being allowed to cross the gate.
The airport has two terminals Arrivals and Departures, with no artificial impediment from beggars to obstruct or distract passengers on arrival or departing Lungi, a traveller said.
The Airport is now well secured he said, and it is compatible with International Standards. “It is now well manned by a credible international airport security firm (Westminster Aviation Security Services) by both personnel and security equipment.
To ensure effective delivery of service the airport security has been upgraded with an automated body and luggage scanners, screening machines and other security apparatus with sniffer dogs meandering around the airport entrance and exit.
Airport Management has significantly improved on services to the satisfaction of many travellers who in the past had to jostle to get into the terminal building.
Travellers expressed profound thanks and appreciation to the government of Sierra Leone and the Airport Management for the swift intervention to improve on the airport facilities.
