Trade Minister visits ADDAX Bioenergy

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alhaji Usmam Boie Kamara together with a high powered delegation, on Tuesday, February 25, paid a one day visit to ADDAX Bioenergy at Melal Mara in the Tonkolili District.

The Minister’s visit was to ascertain the modus operandi of ADDAX Bioenergy’s activities in Malal Mara, Makeni, Gbantie and Bombali Shebora.

He thanked the management of ADDAX Bioenergy for the huge investment they have brought into Sierra Leone and informed them that they must go by the country’s Local Content Policy wherein a company must have twenty percent of Sierra Leoneans in the senior management cadre, fifty percent in the middle management cadre and seventy percent in the junior management level.

The General Manager of ADDAX Bioenergy, Mr. John Moult, welcomed the minister and entourage for coming to ADDAX Bioenergy.

He explained that his organization has a 35,000 hecteres of land leased from the community and have done 170 kilometers of electrification.

According to him by March 21 this year, production will start. He highlighted that his organization has put in over $300 million investment in Sierra Leone and hopes to invest more. He stressed that the investment will increase the GDP of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Moult noted at there is high percentage of expatriate works at ADDAX Bioenergy at the moment but there are plans for them to train Sierra Leoneans who will eventually take over from them.
