President Kabbah celebrates 82 years

Former President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah (in photo) on Sunday, February 16, celebrated his 82nd birthday at his Kabbaya residence at Juba Hill in Freetown.

The celebration which was well attended attracted large crowds of family, friends and well-wishers including former Government officials as well as members of various political parties.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Isatu Jabbie Kabbah stated that it was the tradition of the former President to celebrate his birthday every year and that they were especially thrilled that their husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather had lived up to this time.

She described rumours that her husband had died as ludicrous.

She said she was very encouraged by the high turn out relatives and friends who had come from all parts of the country to celebrate with them.

“Your presence here today is a manifestation of the love and respect you have for President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah who served this country faithfully when he was President,” she observed.

She stressed that the history of Sierra Leone can never be complete without the mention of the great role played by President Kabbah to bring peace to the country after eleven years of a senseless war.

She also maintained that the people of this country will ever be grateful to his for the rebuilding and reconciliation process which he pioneered.

Prayers for the former President’s speedy recovery and statements of goodwill from individuals and organisations formed the highpoint of the celebration.
