Four individuals collectively electrify Bamoi-Luma: but…

In a bid to complimenting government effort for sustainable countrywide national development ventures, four patriotic individuals have team up to electrifying the popular international local food-stuff market, Bamoi-Luma, in the north-west part of the Sierra Leone.  (Photo: Mohamed Lamin Suma, Umar Turay, Ibrahim Turay, and Abu Bakarr Turay )

The four individuals are Abu Bakarr Turay, Umar Turay, Mohamed Lamin Suma, and Ibrahim Turay.  They simultaneously used Lister generators to cooperatively supply electricity to people in that part of the country, starting 9am-4pm and 6pm-11pm daily.

Many residents in that part of the country have confirmed that, with the four individuals’ sacrifices, life is definitely getting better for the locals, visitors and businessmen/women from within and outside Sierra Leone, who often go to do usual weekly business at Bamoi-Luma, on Fridays-Sundays.

Payment for the regular and stable power supply is done on daily basis; yet, the people are very much satisfied and pleased.  According to many concerned traders, indigenes and senior stakeholders in Bamoi-Luma and Kambia Township, government, through the Ministry of Energy, must do all they can, to compliment the patriotic and sacrificial efforts of these citizens with some wooden poles and cooper cables, if necessary, for quality and guaranteed services. A well satisfied Computer School owner-Abdul Lathif in Bamoi-Luma, intimated this medium that, since the invention of the cooperate electricity system in that part of the country by the four individuals, fire outbreaks have drastically reduced in the Township of Bamoi-Luma. Before this time he said, there were monotonous peddling and black-market sale of fuel, which used to force especially local businessmen and residents, to riskily keep fuel in their generators and homes for domestic use of electricity.  Today, those extensive fire outbreaks have become thing of the past and most importantly, little or no more pollution through excessive uses of small generators called ‘Kabba Tigers’.  Night street sellers and ordinary residents as well benefit from the power system, the Computer School proprietor lamented.

Authoritatively, the Kambia District Officer- Mr. Alfred Lahai in an exclusive interview with this medium commended what he called, the patriotic efforts of these sacrificial young men. “They need help to convert from stick poles into wooden or metal poles, for Community safety”, the D.O noted, adding: we have therefore invited them to work with the Kambia District Council.

When contacted for comment, Abu Bakarr Turay explained that each of the Lister generators consume not less than ninety-five liters (95) of fuel daily. “Community development is our acute concern as we run at loss on daily basis”.

Abu Bakarr furthered that, in the couple of days, the Bamoi Police Post will be fully connected with power supply at free cost, and that connection is in progress. Buttressing their patriotic efforts, a satisfied youth of Bamoi-Luma, Abdul Kamara cited that, there is no where in this country where free electricity is offered to the Police, not to talk of the capital of Freetown. Therefore he pursued; these young men must be supported by all means. ‘We as youths of Bamoi-Luma are making it a point of duty to protect their utilities and equipments and machines because we are the primary beneficiaries in all forms, Kamara assured.

It could be recalled that Bamoi-Luma stands to be one of the leading local markets that hosts local/international businessmen from neighboring Guinea, The Gambia, Senegal, Mali etc. It used to be a high crime zone where hard core criminals form other parts of the country and outside, mobilize for diabolic activities. But, with the tireless efforts of the Police and the cooperative electrification system, crime and robberies have drastically reduced, it emerged.
