NaCAL-Sierra Leone promotes border security monitoring
The Executive Director of the National Campaign against Lawlessness-Sierra Leone (NaCAL-SL), Mr. Ibrahim Kamara, has revealed to this press that his organization has taken the lead among others in the promotion of human security and peace in the country.
Speaking on his week long tour this month to Tambakha and Bramaia Chiefdoms in the Northern Region of the country, Mr. Kamara revealed that his organization has undertaken a border monitoring security sensitization with the local citizens of those two chiefdoms.
He explained that the essence of engaging in such an exercise was to provide the desired civic education focusing on community awareness raising and participation especially within the borders of the country with the objective of minimizing and controlling the irregular movements of foreign nationals into the country.
Mr. Kamara maintained that sustainable peace and human security of any state must be everyone’s interest, stressing that everyone must play a role in this area.
He further stated that the project will further strengthen the tradition of cooperation with proven community capacity, experience and methods to enhance an acceptable working relationship between the local indigenes and security service providers, particularly in the two chiefdoms where they Sierra Leone and Guinea have a common tribe, Susu.
Commenting on some of their past activities, he disclosed that his organization has organised workshops, including doing-free sensitization peace education, community health education and conflict management in institutions of learning.
Speaking on his source of funding, he disclosed that his organization has not received any donor support either from the Government of Sierra Leone or from international agencies.
He appealed for support from the Government, individuals and organizations to enable his organization achieve its objectives of making Sierra Leone a secure and peaceful country.
