Kao Denero & LAJ together for United Sierra Leone
United Sierra Leone has officially released Hip Hop songs of LAJ and Kao Denero, alongside Star Zee and SQB, part of the United Sierra Leone compilation album, featuring top and upcoming artists.
The songs tilted: ‘COLOURS’ by Kao Denero, ‘THIS CORRUPTION’ by LAJ, ‘UNITY’ by Star Zee and ‘MUSIC INDUSTRY’ by SQB. The songs contained lyrics about corruption, negative tribalism, injustice, poverty, child rights, democracy, youth violence, peace, divisive ideologies in colleges/schools, challenges and opportunities in the music industry etc.
Leader of United Sierra Leone Process, Mr. Messeh Leone, said: ‘’Music can be a powerful force for good. Music can impact, influence and unify people from all backgrounds, tribes and regions. There is a need and an opportunity to do more to address a range of social issues –that threaten the stability and sustainability of our county. We have to engage the generation of young people who are highly influenced by music and hip hop culture to unite Sierra Leone.
‘’We believe that the best way to unite people and develop is through the power of creative music. That’s why we engage artists, to work together; to find solutions that last; and to transform and unite our country’’, said Mr. Joseph Richard Abdulia (aka Soundboy Richie), one of the producers of the album.
As people increasingly choose to associate with those whom they agree tribally and politically, in what is described as “the tribal politics factor,” and other factors loosen the ties that bound us into one nation, the need for a United Sierra Leone cannot be over-emphasised.
United Sierra Leone Process is engaging and empowering a global movement of artists committed to creating pro-social music, and a Sierra Leone community committed to bringing about positive social change, with the strong conviction that, in so doing, we can and will realise a better Sierra Leone for all. This will promote a sense of unity that helps promote peace, development and provides creative inspiration for artists.
It should be noted that this is a non-political voluntary programme and the artists have patriotically contributed to the album to demonstrate their independence, political neutrality, honesty, accountability, transparency, in support of a United Sierra Leone.
The complete album, which will be released in due course, featured theme and single songs by Steady Bongo, Jimmy B, Sorie Kondi, Emmerson, Naser Ayoub, Kao Denero, LAJ, M2, Mystik, Vida, Succulent, Innocent, Fantacee, SQB, Kman, FT Fresh, Star Zee, Zion Yard, and many more.
