Cerebral Palsy football forms Modality and Publicity Committee
A new form of football game, which is the sixteenth football discipline in the country, Cerebral Palsy [CP] has been introduced in Sierra Leone.
It is a seven aside game played by people with brain and nervous system disfunctions and closely associated with people with disabilities.
It has different rules as compared to that of FIFA laws, among them it has no offside, no corner kick and no free kick.
According to officials of the game, Messrs Rooney and Stuart Sharp from the Netherlands and Scotland, who trained over thirty CP football officials late last year including administrators, referees and coaches, Sierra Leone has been the first West African country to adapt this kind of football discipline which they said Sierra Leoneans must embrace whole-heartedly.
Speaking very recently during a meeting held at the Presidential Lounge, the initiator of the game to Sierra Leone who is the sport presenter at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation [SLBC], Mr. Unisa Deen Kargbo, suggested that the game should be introduced all over the country.
During that meeting a Modality and Publicity Committee was formed for the planning and publicizing of the game.
Mr. Kargbo urged all Referees and Coaches to start thinking about how to implement the game and to come for meetings. He also intimated that two CP teams have been formed in Lungi and are now training effectively.
