Captain Barbar Mansaray Memorial Gala kicks off
Eight clubs are currently battling for the late Captain Barbar Mansaray trophy at the Congo Town School Playing Field.
The gala is organized in collaboration with the Congo Town Football Association and Coach Puzzy from America.
Barbar Mansaray played for Real Republicans and the junior national teams. The late Defender was one of the brightest Defenders but later retired from football and became a businessman in the area of stationery. He passed away last year and is highly regarded by the Congo Town football family.
The eight participating clubs are Veterans FC, Red Arrow FC, Po Loko FC, Banking FC, Kingston FC, Main Road FC, Cemetery Road FC and Water Front FC.
In the opening match on Monday, January 6, Red Arrow FC defeated Veterans FC 7-2.
Cemetery Road engage Banking FC in day two knock-out yesterday but the result was not known till press time.
Today, Po Loko FC will engage Main Road FC.
The sponsor of the gala, Coach Puzzy told this press that the late Barbar Mansaray was a brother to him and that he is going to organize an annual gala in memory of him.
The champion will receive a giant trophy and a handsome cash prize while the runner-up will receive cash prize.
In the opening ceremony the son of the late Barbar Mansaray took the kick off.
