Speaking shortly after the conference to the Information Bureau of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Riyadh over the weekend, Sheik Ahmad Ramadan Jalloh said the conference was organized under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdallah Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.
In his 15 pages presentation on the topic: “Pleasure of the Qur’an in the hearts of the believers,” Sheik Jalloh told his audience that the Qur’an is a divine book of Islam revealed by God Almighty to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) for entire mankind.
The Qur’an, he emphasized, brings peace and tranquility among people who adopt Islam as a system in their daily lives. The Qur’an, he added, conveys the teachings and principle values which should be the central references for the attitude and conduct of believers.
The eloquent Sheik also said that the Qur’an has a magnificent grammar and content that cannot be matched by any other revealed book or anything else in human creation. “It is an encyclopedia of the rule of law, society, literature and politics in the history of human civilization.”
He was also quick to point out that not only readers of the Qur’an get its pleasure, but even the non believers who listen to those who recite it, stressing that, the Holy book is a source of happiness for believers and non believers.
On behalf of all Sierra Leonean students in the Kingdom, Jalloh thanked King Abdallah, for his patronage which he said, is a clear manifestation of the importance he (the King) attaches to the development of higher education and has always encouraged local and foreign studies in the pursuance of their studies. He also thanked Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, the Minister of Higher Education and all the organizers of the conference.
He said the conference allowed students to showcase their talents. “Most of our colleagues displayed their inventions and artistic talent. A plastic art and photography show was also held,” he said.
The conference, he reiterated, also helped revive and enrich academic research in the Kingdom across all the disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences, the ‘Shariah’, knowledge of economy, Arabic language, politics, literature, engineering, media, computer, nanotechnology, agriculture and applied medical sciences.
Sheik Ramadan was enrolled in the University in 1993. After obtaining distinctions in his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Islamic Propagation and Islamic Creed respectively, he then enrolled for doctorate studies in Islamic Creed; which he is expected to defend in his thesis in the next few weeks.
