Kumba Momoh retained as APC leader

Kumba Momoh has been retained as Chairlady of the All People’s Congress United Kingdom/Northern Ireland Branch for the second time.

Kumba was elected unopposed and glowing tributes of her dedication, maturity and of leadership style were paid on her behalf for her.

Popular Sierra Leonean-born Councillor Sheikh Mackie is the new man taking over the seat of Vice Chairman from Yoni Sesay while Tamba Lopel Sam Sumana also retained his position as the branch’s Secretary General.

Assisting Sumana is Sheku Ibrahim Sorsor Conteh while Amadu Fofanah retained his position as Finance Officer with Josephine Wilson serving as his deputy.

The position of Organising Secretary and deputy went to Victor French and Abdul Kargbo respectively while that of Welfare Officer and the deputy went to Teresa Williams and Alhaji Sesay respectively.

Outspoken and versatile Kadie Buya was again crowned as the Women’s Leader with Haja Maco Sillah serving as her deputy.

Men’s Youth Leader position went to popular socialite Edward Mokowa and Ansu Kamara got the position of Social Secretary with Ramatu serving as his deputy.

There were also key positions elected – among them was that of Political and Education Officer which went to veteran politician Idrissa Dizo Conteh amidst thunderous applause.

Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Edward Mohamed Turay and his deputy Tamba Mansa Ngeba were appointed Grand Chief Patron and Chief Patron respectively while there position of VIP Hospitality goes to Kadie Sillah.

Giving her address, Momoh expressed delight over her appointment saying, “I am truly humbled and honoured to be elected as your Chair for the second term.”

She called on all to work in the interest of the party saying as a branch their main focus should be how to generate funds and encourage more people into the party ahead of the 2012 Presidential elections.

Momoh catalogued some of government’s achievements adding that as a branch they have very little to say in convincing the public.

“Our work so far since the election of President Koroma into office speaks for itself.”

Elected Vice Chairman Sheikh Mackie paid glowing tribute to the Deputy High Commissioner for taking the branch to such height adding that from the little experience they’ve acquired from their predecessors they are confident they can take the branch and the party to higher height.

In her response, Women’s Leader, Kadie Buya gave an astonishing speech, calling on all to support the government of President Koroma.

As leader of the women, Buya promised their best in order to achieve their objectives as a party.

“We the women are going to amplify our voices loud and clear for the success of the APC,” Buya said.

The branch’s Legal Adviser Abess also paid special tribute to the Chairlady describing her as a mother who deserves an award for excellence.

Abess called on all to put personal differences aside and work in the interest of the party.

But his remarks came just after he sent the entire hall into jubilation with a typical APC temne song titled: APC ee bamu ku ram o – ee karra mu kan kuma’ meaning ‘APC I owe you but I am waiting to pay you back at the ballot box.’
