Labour Force Survey to kick off in December
Explaining about some of the work that his Ministry is engaged in, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr. Matthew Teambo has stated that the Labour Force Survey exercise has begun and that they have already finished the first phase of the House Listing Survey.
He further maintained that the survey proper will start this first week in December.
In an exclusive interview with this paper, he disclosed their plans to hold meetings with stakeholders including employers, lawyers, and civil society to see how they could work together to achieve their objectives.
He intimated that they are currently engaging the stakeholders to agree on a minimum wage for workers.
On the collection of revenue the Minister said they have collected Le2.8 Billion from July to September 2013.
He also stated that they now have a National Safety Net which he described as a programme that targets vulnerable people who have attained the age of 60.
Teambo also explained that the pilot programme was sponsored by the World Bank to identify the poorest districts in the country for intervention.
