Reports reaching this paper indicate that the girl who was alleged to have been shot in the leg by a Police Officer in the fracas between pupils and the Police in Kissy on Wednesday, November 13 this year, has been abandoned at the Emergency Hospital at Goderich on the western outskirts of Freetown.

The reports further state upon sustaining the injury, the girl, Mariatu Nas Kandrie who is a Junior Secondary School III pupil of the Government Municipal Secondary School at Kissy was reportedly rushed to the nearby Yangadie Memorial Hospital at Jenner-Wright Road.

The reports also explained that the Assistant Inspector General of Police, East, Mr. Karrow Kamara and his Regional Operations Officer, Superintendent of Police Abu Sesay promised to take responsibility of Mariatu.

In an interview with Mariatu’s father, Alhaji Bashiru Nas Gandrie, he explained that at the initial stage, AIG Karrow Kamara did very well when he and the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Minkailu Bah, took his daughter to the Emergency Hospital at Goderich.

He however stated that immediately they took her to the hospital they abandoned her and have neither showed up again nor paid her medical bills as they promised.
