SLPP in disarray in Kenema

Since after the national convention of the main opposition Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) there has no day without confession among the members of the main opposition Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) raining from party office, petrol stations and public meeting places.

Yesterday was again described by many observers as caustic as Sannoh and Komeh led district executive of the main opposition Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) fought for supremacy in the party.

The clash came about as a result of two letters of invitation that was extended to both executives by the regional and national office of the political parties registration commission (PPRC) for a meeting which was held at the Kenema district council hall on the 13th November 2013.

Offensive language from both executive members was flying from back, front and center much to the surprise of the other nine political parties that were present and members of the public.

The Komeh led executive that were elected in May 11th 2013 says they are legitimate executive as they were elected in their party office by all the constituency executive in the whole district, but the Sannoh led executive says the Komeh executive was not authorize by the party national executive council which they said is the highest body in their party.

Former councilor Yatta Sama at the Sannoh led executive says they are the legitimate executive and that is why they were invited to the party national delegate conference in Bo this year and that any attempt to move them will meet stiff resistance.

According to observers, what happened today was a clear manifestation that the party still has a crack even after a series of peace dialog the party has organize in the district.

An observer Mariama Kanu who was at the scene expressed dismay over the attitude of the two executives adding that the party is not ready for power come 2017/2018 as they are only busy fighting each other

Speaking to this reporter the acting registrar of the political parties registration commission (PPRC) Zainab Umu Kamara called on the SLPP to put their house in order. She however denied the allegation that they as PPRC want to bring problem in SLPP.

The regional chairman SLPP Hon. Tordone who came to the scene later declaim to comment, whether the two parties will come together is a concern to all.
