Four perished in Makeni-Gberay road accident
Makeni, Nov. 12 (SLENA) – At least four people were confirmed dead following a road accident that recently occurred along the Makeni/Gberay Junction Highway, when 2 vehicles had a head long collusion.
The Nissan taxi car with registration number AHW-543 under the control of one Sheku Janneh of Rokel Town collided with a Prado Jeep ADR 820 between Rogbalan and Masoko villages in the Marampa Chiefdom
The driver in control of the Sonny taxi car, Sheku Yansaneh and Hawa Nabieu of Port Loko died on the spot while Amadu Conteh together with Adama Fornah both of Mabai Kali village passed away shortly upon arrival at the Mabessaneh Catholic Hospital in Lunar.
Inspector Mohamed Mansaray is the District Traffic Officer at the Lunsar Police Station where the matter is being investigated. He said Saidu Kargbo of Mabai-Kali village, Yeabu Kanu of Hallen Town and Joseph Thorlley of Upper Banana Street in Makeni, sustained very serious wounds while the two vehicles were damaged beyond repairs.
He said those injured were responding to treatment in various hospitals and that the remains of the dead have since been handed over to their relatives for burial after post-Morten examinations.
The District Traffic Officer said even though the driver of the Praddro Jeep is on the run, and the actual cause of the accident is yet to ascertained, he the accident cannot be unconnected with over speeding and reckless driving.
