London Mining resumes operations after community unrest

(Lunsar 4 November 2013): London Mining management team statement:

Following community unrest today at London Mining’s Marampa site, management announces that operations resumed at 12:00.

At approximately 07:30, London Mining personnel were made aware of illegal trespassers on its Marampa mine site.

Upon investigation, London Mining came upon up to 100 youth, from villages adjacent to the mining concession.

As employee safety is the number one priority of London Mining, the Company immediately halted its mining operations.

The Sierra Leone Police were contacted who immediately deployed the Local Unit Commander to contain the situation. We are thankful for their prompt action.

We report that no London Mining employees sustained injury. There has been some minor damage to Company property.

London Mining takes this matter very seriously. As is always the case, the Company will work in close collaboration with local authorities to resolve the matter in a constructive fashion.

There is no immediate known cause for the unrest.
