Former MP makes impact in Binkolo and Kamabai

Former Member of Parliament for Constituency 34, Hon. Kondeh Yapo Conteh of Biriwa and Safroko Chiefdoms in the Bombali District last Thursday handed over four classroom blocks to the Binkolo Catholic Junior Secondary School at Safroko Limba Chiefdom and two blocks to serve as living quarters for Teachers at the Kamabai Secondary School which he said he personally built.

Welcoming the guests, the Paramount Chief of safroko Limba Chiefdom, Chief Alimamy Dura III said he appreciated the former Parliamentarian for the great work he has done in his chiefdom.

Handing over the building to the school authorities at Safroko Chiefdom, the former Member of Parliament noted that he thought it fit to compliment President Koroma’s agenda for prosperity on education by boosting education in the chiefdom.

He explained that he decided to help his people with the buildings because of the suffering their children go through to access education.

He said he has done a lot in sports and food production, and given a lot of scholarships to deserving school children.

In his statement, the Acting Head Teacher of the Binkolo Catholic Junior Secondary School, Mr. Desmond S.I. Bongi, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Former Member of Parliament for what he described as his bold initiative in building the four classroom blocks for the school.

He pointed out that in the history of the school, Hon. Kandeh Yapo Conteh was the first ever Member of Parliament to have undertaken such a laudable project.

In his keynote address, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Minkailu Bah also thanked the former Member of Parliament for his great work in promoting education in the country.

In her comments, the Deputy Director of Education, Bombali district, Haja Ramatu Kanu, expressed appreciation for the good work of the former Member of Parliament. She urged all indigenes to emulate his shinning example.

In his remarks, the Chief Administrator of the Bombali District Council, Mr. John Shangi, noted that Hon. Kondeh Yapo Conteh has contributed immensely to the development of education in the district.

At the Kamabai Secondary School in Biriwa Chiefdom, the Minister and other school authorities were in attendance during the commissioning of the two blocks of living quarters comprising of four bedrooms for the Teachers in the school.
