New hope for Pedmal Academy Secondary School
A learning institution which started as a vocational institute at Cannon Street in the heart of Freetown, and which later turned into a Secondary School has got a new hope with the appointment o f a new Principal.
Mr. S.S Ninka was brought in during the last academic year in 2012/2013 to render a new lease of life to a school which had suffered administrative and managerial problems.
When the school moved to 31 John Street in Freetown, it was able to produce pupils who passed the WASCE and many of whom are now in universities across the country.
Apart from that, the school had being doing well in sporting activities and is the proud owner of a brass band. However the school later encountered problems with the Landlord at 31 John Street in Freetown. Standards also dropped and this included the code of dress and conduct of the pupils.
As a remedy, the Proprietor called on Mr. S.S Ninka to come and assist in rebuilding the image of the school.
“It was not an exercise worth taking when you look at the state of the school, but I agreed to take up the challenge in building the standards of the school,” Mr. Ninka said.
“As a first step we moved the school from John Street to 32 Campbell Street. For the whole of the last academic year, the school was not able to get pupils as parents and guardians had lost confidence in the school, but with determination, I have injected new vigour ion the school especially when I have been able to get qualified and dedicated Teachers,” Mr. Ninka concluded.
