President Koroma donates 400 Hajj scholarships to women
Reports reaching this paper have revealed that President Ernest Bai Koroma has personally donated four hundred scholarships to women to make the pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca.
It has been established that because of the financial constraints that people, especially rural women face to make the pilgrimage, the President decided to help them to make the pilgrimage in comfort.
It has also emerged that the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Hon. Moijueh Kaikai, has put measures in place to ensure that the pilgrims do not face constraints and embarrassment.
“This is the first time that the people travelling to perform the Hajj will do so without a lot of hitches,” a senior Muslim cleric observed.
He described Hon. Moijueh as a very resourceful and result-oriented man who always has the interest of the people of this country at heart.
