Charles Ostrov breaks silence on Sierra Leone music
A premier producer of Sierra Leone music, Charles Ostrov, has broken his silence on the cause of relegation of Sierra Leonean music and musicians in the country.
The French music producer who spoke with this Reporter said that lack of unity among the people involved in the promotion, production, and marketing of local music has caused a complete depreciation within the music and entertainment industry.
He disclosed that since his engagement as producer in the initial stages of Jimmy B’s Paradise Records culminating in the production of Paradise Records Volume 1 and the taking over of musicians like K-Man, PDT, Vida, Manzu avec Ceebolt, Ceejay, Sara D Great and Jawu Kateh, General Sfano and others, he was encouraged to Studio J as a record label.
He further stated that the management of Super Sounds in Sierra Leone has also encouraged importing new and effective equipment that has enhanced the smooth running of music in the country.
“He stated that he was not happy with the change of leadership and management of the Sierra Leone Cassette Sellers Association, describing their decision as a major mistake.
Observing that the previous leadership of the Cassette Sellers Association was supportive of every idea profitable to investors in the music industry, he called on the present leadership of the association should act appropriately to help encourage investors to take part in a more oriented business like way in the music industry in the country.
He appealed to all stakeholders in the music industry to put all differences aside and bring back their local musicians to light.
