Kei’s brilliant two goals in three matches
Since joining Middlesbrough FC from the USA for £900k, Kei Kamara, the Sierra Leonean star striker has been brilliant in three matches played and has accounted for two goals for the Championship side.
Making his first home debut against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Riverside Stadium the Sierra Leone striker is now the new Boro idol. He accounted for Middlesbrough’s first goal to reduce the score line after the visitors took the lead with two goals in the first 15th min goals from Bret Pitman in the 4th and 12th min respectively.
Mustapha Carayol leveller and Grant Leadbitter gave the home side the lead for the first time in the match, however an own goal from Jonathan Woodgate ruined Kamara’s home debut party, despite that he has thoroughly enjoyed a fine start to life with the championship side in England and is now looking forward to continuing to show the home fans what he can do.
Kamara, 29, was also on target against Nottingham Forest scoring Boro’s opener in the 17th minute though it ended 2-2.
“It’s good to be here,” Kamara said. “It’s great to get an opportunity to come to England and play soccer. I’m excited every day to be around the place. The excitement in me – I feel like a kid all over again.”
“Middlesbrough is a big club; they’ve been in the Premier League for years and doing really good things. There have been some great players coming through the place so for me to come here and be part of a team that’s going to battle to put the club back where it belongs is fantastic”, Kamara said.
He’s a serious footballer but away from football he’s a relaxed individual – you’ll like him. I’m more interested, of course, in the football side and he showed on Tuesday he’ll be a serious threat” said manager Tony Mowbray.
