Kenema City Mayor Speaks
Responding to the curiosity and perception of the people in Kenema city, mayor Joseph Samba Keifala (in photo) is persistently telling the people of Kenema to wait until the rains seize and after that if they do not see any road construction or other construction activities going on within the city they can blame the city council.
In his mayoral office at the city council building, the mayor engaged journalists and asked them to always write or talk more on development rather than criticizing people. He maintained that he is a seasoned politician and a public servant who is used to the press.
Talking on development, he reiterated that they will embark on 12 city road constructions. He said the road survey has been done and identified 12 major roads. He later stated that his dream is to make Kenema city enviable to other cities very soon. The mayor said Kenema will have a tourist walkway, and canoeing, where tourists can see wonderful things. He again said soonest, Kenema will also have a university as the polytechnic will be promoted to a university level. He even revealed that a medical university will be construction by donors and that will be 2013 to 2015. He said donors want this medical university to serve not only Sierra Leoneans but other international people to come and learn medical causes.
Mayor, J.S Keifala also talked on a recent arrangement with the management of Sam King to buy his Leone Lodge at Bandama which he said will be used as Kenema city Council Hotel where tourists will lodge and observe good natural things. He later said they will recruit city council police officers who will be change with the responsibilities of policing the activities of the council. He said the police office will be at the clock tower.
Speaking in the area of sanitation, he stated that Council has built an abattoir for the butchers. In the area of building this Sanitation building, he maintained that they do not want people to slaughter animals in any indecent environment.
He later called the attention of football lovers to note that council is now paying Kamboi Eagles players and providing other soccer facilities.“Very soon, we will establish the Kamboi Eagles fan club and prepare membership for them”, he said.
He called the attention of tax prayers to pay all their taxes correctly and on time to develop Kenema as they are yawning.
