‘Operation More Trouble’ for half way drivers

Speaking to journalists at his East End Police divisional office on Wednesday 4th September 2013, the District Traffic Officer (DTO) Inspector Saidu Mike Kargbo disclosed that his division has launched an operation code-named ‘More Trouble for Halfway Drivers’.

According to the DTO since the start of this month, dozens of drivers have been arrested and charged to court for various offences, ranging from using an unauthorized route, halfway stops, driving without license, failing to affix seat belts, driving without due care and attention, and many other related offences.

He highlighted that he would not sit by and allow lawless drivers and motor bike riders holding people to ransom as long as he is the head of traffic of the East End Police division.

The DTO maintained that there is no compromise for drivers failing to take passengers to their required destination and called on the passengers or the public not to cooperate with them but rather call on the police to arrest them.

“I together with my team of dedicated personnel have been able to raise millions of Leones as fines levied on drivers in court and the monies paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund for which I have been acclaimed by community members as the best DTO in recent times”, Inspector Mike Kargbo boasted.

In reaction to the DTO’s statement, Councilor Abu Yankra of the Freetown City Council lauded Inspector Mike Kargbo as being dedicated to duty, firm, focused and result oriented, adding that his love for the job cannot be overemphasized.  He entreated other police officers to emulate the good examples of the DTO.
