Saudi Arabia: Embassy joins 160 countries in economic forum

The three days Forum, organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the Gulf Research Center (GRC) had as its theme: “The Global Economy in 2020.”
It attracted over 400 investors, academics, economists, decision makers and experts. In his opening remarks, the Governor of the Makkah Region, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal called for greater cooperation and integration to achieve speedy global economic recovery.
“This forum is a good opportunity to discuss world economic issues and bring together people of different countries to exchange ideas,” the Prince said.
Abdul Aziz Sager, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center (GRC), which organized the event, highlighted the importance of the JEF’s 10th edition, adding that prominent speakers will discuss pressing world issues.
The delegates discussed the outlook for the world economy in the next ten yeas in the key sectors of Banking and Finance, Energy and the Environment, Trade, Agriculture, Industry, Education, Health, and Science and Technology.
Among the topics discussed, many speakers unanimously agreed that health has been one of the most important issues that affect global economy, development, services and productivity.
They warned of health risks, diseases and epidemics awaiting the world in the new millennium, especially in the light of globalization, open borders, and movement of goods from one country to another resulting in transmission of infections, epidemics and viruses.
The Embassy was represented by First Secretary and Information Attaché, Messrs Eric Bobson Gamanga and Alhaji Jalloh respectively.
