As SSL fumbles… DHS Staff Withdrawn

All field staff of the on going Demographic Health Survey (DHS) have been withdrawn and grounded owing to piles of discrepancies in the figures collected so far. It would be recalled that this medium blew the whistle in our previous editions that recruitment for this all-important survey was haphazardly done through the merits of the very Statistician General and his cabalists or to those who were willing to pay part of their earning via ‘commission’. Time wasted, monies spent, but no work done.

Friends at Statistics Sierra Leone were acrimonious and thought it was a witch hunt. No, it is for the good sake of Mama Salone and little did they realize that they were not going to face the consequences alone. Not to talk of their bravado over some sections of the local media on the scores they were making in the survey. Now they have resorted to withdrawing the piles of oddballs that were crash trained and fielded in the place of sober minded applicants that went in to take part in the DHS.

Good radiance, sanity will return to the place and we will be assured of credible figures in our DHS and next year’s National Population Census respectively.
