Sierra Leoneans Must Not Settle For Mediocrity!

Weekly Message From Mohamed K Mansaray

As Sierra Leoneans, we must not settle for mediocrity, indigence and poorness. Today, I want to talk with you about my vision to prioritize education if elected president in 2017/18.

Education is the new currency by which nations keep competitive and grow. A better-educated Sierra Leone will lead to a prosperous nation. My vision for education is that my administration will take responsibility for identifying the most effective approach to educate all learners, so that these students will become empowered to take responsibility for themselves and adopt an “I can do this” attitude. As students develop confidence they will innately feel encouraged to form the relationships with others that are needed in our society.

I empathize with the children and student struggling to pay for school & college fees. In the Early 90s during the civil war, my family was displaced in Koidu Town, Kono. My father couldn’t pay my college fees. I struggled to pay my college fees. I was a product of that struggle and suffering growing up in Sierra Leone. I intend to cure those same educational struggles and sufferings as President.

Education in my administration will be free to all children in Sierra Leone. The true meaning of ‘no child left behind’ will be implemented to the fullest. Every child will have the opportunity to a free education and free lunch up to Secondary school. My administration will provide grants and loans for college level students. Some of you may ask, where is he going to get the money? I am going to review all of our mineral resources mining contracts with companies and levied the appropriate taxes so that the citizens will benefit from the God gifted minerals in Sierra Leone. Home owners will pay the appropriate taxes. 70% of those taxes will go to the neighboring schools and remaining 30% for trash and garbage pickup at least three days a week right in front of their houses.

Last week, I received a Facebook message from Ibrahim Koroma. His question was “Mr. Mansaray, if I vote for you and you win, would you pay for me to go to school again. I am a drop-out youth”. Fellow Sierra Leoneans, Ibrahim’s message strengthens my ambition to fight for him and the countless students and youth in our country. Ibrahim Koroma is not asking for much. He deserves to get his education. If elected president , I will build vocational and youth centers in every community to enhance our youth skills to be competitive to secure jobs and ultimately live a meaningful and productive life. I envisage my presidency under which the Sierra Leonean child goes for computer lessons in his or her school’s well-equipped computer laboratory with internet access. And this child will go on to appreciate the unparalleled access to the global village that this technology offers.

My appeal to you as Sierra Leoneans, is to know what our educational realities are and let us get together and save our next generation leaders by supporting our campaign for the 2017/18 Presidency. With your support, I will go on, secure and unafraid, holding fast to the faith and confident of the supreme Sierra Leonean fulfillment. Now, my fellow citizens, with the help of God and the wholehearted push which you can put behind this campaign, we can save the future of our beloved country.

May God bless you.

May God continues to bless and protect the land that we love our country Sierra Leone.
