Sarah Di Great mocks Islam

While Muslims are completing their month of fasting, a movie recently released by one of the country’s most famous comedians, Sara Di Great, is currently a source of annoyance for the former who have described the latter’s film as a taunt of their Islamic beliefs.

The movie titled, “Sara as Bilal,’’ has become a cause for concern for Muslims across the world, more especially in his native Sierra Leone, because the protagonist, Sara Di Great, who plays the role of a revered Islamic scholar, Bilal, intentionally ridicules the virtues of Islam.

After a review of the film, the Public Relations Officer [PRO] of the National Councils of Imams, Sheik Colia Kamara, said they as a Council are dismayed with the depictions,  utterances, dress codes and other unethical behaviours Sarah Di Great attached to Islam while performing  the role of an Islamic figure, Bilal.  He maintained that Sara Di Great grossly misrepresented the role of Bilal to Islam.

According to him Bilal who Sara Di Great portrayed as a profane character was one of the persons who fought tooth and nail for the survival of the Islam Muslims are practicing today.

‘’Why is a comedian like Sara Di Great in his quest for money trying to lower the prestige of Bilal,’’ Sheik Kamara queried. He stated that Sara Di Great has committed an abominable offence by dressing half naked while using their sacred ‘Munbarr’ to act as Bilal.

His use of provocative utterances in full view of other religions was also termed by the Islamic scholar as disrespect for the religion.

Sarah Di Great was also condemned for breaching an Islamic norm by talking while defecating in a toilet, a scene that is not only provocative but equally defamatory of Bilal.

Sheik Kamara also said that the array of charges goes beyond the comedian to other Islamic clerics who permitted him to use one of their Mosques.

He disclosed that they will soon be mounting an investigation as to who authorized Sara Di Great, who was half naked, to use the Masjid Sawbireen Mayami at Allen town Police Station to shoot the offending film along side children that were hired to utter certain incantations that are not Islamic.

He stressed that if they discover that Sara Di Great was authorized by the Chief Imam of the Mosque they will have no option but to remove him and appoint another competent Chief Imam in his place.

He said the Mosque itself will be sanctified through the usual Islamic ‘Sara’ as the Chief Imam and Sara Di Great have intentionally desecrated the building of Allah.

At the time of going to press all efforts to reach Sara Di Great for his reaction proved futile.
