Plans are underway to re-organize APC branches worldwide
The ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Party Elections Coordinator Hon. Leonard Balogun “Logus” Koroma, who is also the Minister of Transport and Aviation has disclosed that the leader of the party, President Ernest Bai Koroma is displeased with the state of affairs of the APC branches in Europe, North America, and some African Countries.
Speaking in an interview, the Hon. Minister said,“The state of affairs of APC branches in North America, Europe, United Kingdom and some African countries is nothing that we are proud of; therefore President Ernest Bai Koroma is going to take full control of the leadership of the APC all over the world,” said Hon. Koroma
According to him, the leadership has set in motion plans that will soon see the Deputy Leader of the APC, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, the Secretary General Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansanneh, and APC Elections Coordinator Hon. Leonard Balagon “Logus” Koroma, depart Sierra Leone on a specific assignment: to get the branches back in order and conduct elections in a free, fair, transparent and credible way.
“We are going to conduct the elections as stipulated in the APC Party Constitution. In order to incapacitate groups and factions whose sole role is bent on challenging elections results and becoming laws unto themselves, we are not going to be given an observer status. “We are going to be in charge of the conduct of the elections. Whoever wins will be in charge of APC in that region or Area.”
“If you don’t accept the result, you can call it quits; if not, you accept. If you fail to conform, the party will expel you. It’s an instruction from the leadership of the APC Party.
“As a matter of priority, the Secretary General of our Party Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh has acted on instructions from the leader – President Ernest Bai Koroma and written to all our overseas branches – and in particular United Kingdom and United States of America – stating that: “As far as the APC party is concerned, an elected executive remains in office until another election is held.
“As far as the leadership of APC Party is concerned, the Aziz administration is the only legitimate, recognized executive of APC North America.”
“Equally so in the United Kingdom, the executive of Mrs. Kumba Momoh is the only legitimate and recognized executive.” said Hon. Balogun Koroma.
He abhorred the usurpation of posts and said “these facts have been communicated to all the branches: they are not secret”
“Presently, the parameters that will be set by the APC leadership to be used as a yardstick to measure the quality, qualification, and capability of the candidates are in the works.
“We are going to use it in earnest to sanitize our branches.”
He dismissed as baseless and blatant untruth insinuations by some people that the leader of the party has given them his blessings to contest the elections.
People are free to challenge any individual to produce proof in the form of writing to back up his/her claim.
He strongly warned against the act of using the name of His Excellency the President as a pillar of support in elections. President Koroma has never interfered and will never interfere in the conduct of elections,” the Minister concluded
