Usu Boie Wanted!
Residents of Mount Zion, Kola Tree, in the east end of Freetown have been expressing the need for the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alhaji Usu Boie Kamara (in photo) to join them in the deprived community, which according to members of the New Site Development Organization is in dire need of a humanitarian and developer like the Minister of Trade and Industry who some months ago visited the mountainous community following a call by community elders.
“Since his visit to the community, we have been praying for Usu Boie to acquire space so that he would join us here and help us acquire our basic facilities like market,” said the community youth Chairman Momoh Bangura. He informed Sierra Express Media that the Minister had demonstrated his interest towards the community in terms of development being that the new community with no secondary school or community centre needs a market structure though the land is available to accommodate these facilities. He expressed that the visit of the Minister at that time, had brought hope to the community and that they would render the necessary assistance in so far as development is concerned within that community.
Past Sunday, elders of the community reiterated their praise for the Minister when a group of people from Magazine Cut believed to be fans of Usu went there to brush their plots of land on Mount Zion. “ We want you guys together with Usu Boie to join us as quickly as possible, Larry Morgan, one of development activists residing at Mount Zion, assured. He said they would secure the Minister’s plot of land until he decides to put up construction on his plot.
Mount Zion community being state owned was concentrated by land-grabbers who were chased away by the members of New Site Development Organization, chaired by ASP Samuel Benson Sesay who has been looking after the area so that land reserved for basic facilities is not grabbed at the detriment of the entire community. However, Mount Zion over the years, has attracted a good number of respectable personalities including lawyers and other politicians.
