Reggae Union appoints task force
Sierra Leone Reggae Union on Sunday July 21st appointed four members including Anabi Noah Sesay aka DJ Ranking Judah as Tax Force Chairman, Melvin, Zebulon Black Man and live band performer called Hold It. The task force is charged with the responsibility of bringing other well wishers and members on board ahead of elections for tentative executive positions to run the affairs of the union.
These appointments came about following the poor turnout of members to attend last Sunday’s general meeting which was earlier on slated for the mini elections to take place. It was unanimously agreed in that meeting that the elections be postponed until the former 3-man executive hand over the union’s documents, which have not been handed over despite persistent telephone calls.
However, it is expected that the task force would accomplish its mandate of engaging the lost guys this week, as it is hoped that by Sunday, there will be a level playing field for a democratic transition or election within the union which was formed before the 2007 national elections.
Task force Chairman, Ranking Judah underscored that there was need to put a hold to election since they believe that the former runners would show up if well approached by the special task force members.
Founding Coordinator of Reggae Union, Sorie Obai Kamara, aka, Obi-Phrase (residing in Finland) has also expressed the need for the union to solve its leadership challenge. He assured of his continuous support toward the transformation course and progression of the union.
It could be recalled that with support from Shain Foundation (legacy of Amara Kabba of Confront It album), Reggae Union under Obi-Phrase, succeeded in implementing the Guitar Better than Gun tour which was a project to promote peace and non-violence across the Sierra Leone.
