Sierra Leone Internal Affairs Ministry Resolves Police, Airtel Impasse
18th JULY 2013: At the behest of the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs, Joseph B. Dauda, a meeting was today (18 July) convened at the Ministry to resolve the impasse between the Police and Airtel mobile phone company with regards disclosure of information and related matters.
The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Sheka Tarawalie, who said as a responsible government they hold the police force in high esteem and would give them the full political support they deserve in carrying out their responsibilities, while at the same time government would protect and encourage all investors helping in the development agenda of the country.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Crime Services, Morie Lengor, and the Managing Director of Airtel, RVS Bhullar.
After frank discussions, a way forward was charted and both parties accepted that there is a need for greater co-operation and collaboration, thereby agreeing on a standard form of communication at all times.
