Four men docked for unlawful possession

Four accused persons were on Monday, July 15th 2013, arraigned before the Acting Principal Magistrate of the Kenema Magistrate Court, Magistrate Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on one count of unlawful possession, contrary to Section 13(1) of Cap 37 as amended by Section 5 of Act NO.6 1981.

The particulars of offence state that the accused persons were sometime this year, along Maxwell Khobe Street in Kenema Nongowa chiefdom in the Kenema judicial district of the eastern province of the Republic of Sierra Leone were found in possession of a large quantity of copper wire and three long pipes suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The accused persons pleaded guilty to the offence and the matter was adjourned to July 31st  this year for record and sentencing.

The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police Lahai of the Legal and Justice Department of the Kenema Police Station.

In a related development, the Police Media Boss, Mr. Prince Bernard Kamara has intimated to Sierra Express Media that the Anti Robbery Unit of the Sierra Leone Police has on Monday, July 15, 2013 conducted raids at various ghettoes and crime prone areas in Kenema town.

The raid which he said covered the Guinea Base, Combema Road, Limba Corner, Ngayamawama Section among others in Kenema was meant to destabilize and make the criminals restless so that the Kenema city and its environs will be free from bad people and those planning to do bad in the city especially in this holy month of Ramadan.
