Accepting our faults in the interest of change
The killer menace is accelerating into an inevitable phenomenon that is synonymous to change and many people have deemed it as part of our culture.
Things do change, but it depends on you the individual to make the change.
Realistically, every well meaning body would detest corruption but one way or another everyone is involved in it to an extent that is has become very pervasive and widely accepted as part of our Sierra Leonean culture.
Corruption and other related corrupt vices are actually being committed on a daily basis, either knowingly or unknowingly.
In fact in Sierra Leone, when someone is corrupt people admires you and say you are serious. Ridiculous indeed!
Marvel a world class perception survey conducted, involving more serious countries of the universe and it is being trivialized by big wigs including Ministers of Government. This is a clear demonstration of reluctance to change. Imagine highly placed people doubting the credibility of Transparency International because of selfish desire, which in itself is insane and obscure.
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has already demonstrated zest to at least minimize graft through their invigorated prosecutorial powers, massive nationwide education campaign and other methods.
It is our duty as Sierra Leoneans to complement its efforts by simply complaining of incidents of corruption with a bid to frustrating such evil and deadly practices in the land.
Let us be mindful that image cleansing is all about the truth well told and not about sweeping our fault under the carpet.
Let us realize that corruption continues to eat deep into the fabric of our economy at the expense of a handful of our country folks.
Let us therefore accept our faults in the interest of change.
