Army Director Assumes Office
The Director of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO), COLONEL SULLAY IBRAHIM SESAY who was undergoing a course in Egypt has returned home to take up his new appointment at the Defence Ministry in Freetown. Here is a personality profile of the new DPKO.
The newly promoted Colonel was born on 8th Feb 1969 in a village call Maron, in the Tainkatopor, Makama, Safroko (TMS) Chiefdom, Port Loko district. A Temne by Tribe and hails from a Muslim background.
Civil Education
He started his primary education at the St Andrew Roman catholic School in Maron, from 1976 to 1983 where he sat to the Selective Entrance.
In 1983, he entered the Ahmadiya Muslim Secondary School, Freetown where he sat his GCE O and A levels in 1988 and 1990 respectively.
He entered Fourah Bay College in 2005 and graduated in 2009 with a First Class Honors Degree in Economics.
He bagged a Masters in International Affairs and Strategic Studies at National Defence Academy, Nigeria in 2011.
Military Education
Colonel Sesay was enlisted as a cadet in 1991, trained in Benguema and commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the same year.
He did his Junior Division at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College in 2001 and Senior Division at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Nigeria from 2010 to 2011.
Recently (2013), he got a diploma in African Strategic studies at the Nasser Higher Military Academy, Cairo, Egypt.
