Sierra Leone Imams Honoured In Kuwait

Twenty Imams from different parts of Sierra Leone participated in the 11 Nations Islamic session including, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, among many other countries.
According to the Charge D’ Affaires at the Sierra Leone Mission in Kuwait, Mohamed Conteh, the training programme of the Imams was successfully negotiated by President Koroma’s envoy to the State of Kuwait, H.E Ibrahim Bakarr Kamara with the Kuwaiti Under Secretary of the Ministry of Emdowment, Dr Adel Al-Fallah.
This, according to Mr. Conteh, is the second batch of Imams benefiting from this international training programme, adding that, others benefitted from the programme last year.
The Imam Training Programme, Conteh added, is expected to make a significant contribution to national development endeavours, with particular emphasis on Islamic values and ideals on the one hand and building the much-needed bridge between the needs of development and the beliefs and convictions of the people on the other.
The Charge D’ Affaires described Imams as community leaders who have vital roles in spreading awareness and information. He admonished them to share and communicate what they learned in their respective communities back home.
Handing over their certificates, the Head of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Kuwait, Ahmad Abdulai Kandari, praised the Sierra Leone Imams for their diligence, humility and respect to authorities throughout their 3 months stay at the centre.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the head of the Sierra Leone delegation, Sheikh Ishaq Dabor thanked the Government and people of the State of Kuwait for the facility accorded them to study in their prestigious Centre.
Sheik Dabor also thanked the Ambassador and Staff of the Embassy for coordinating the programme at cost free for Imams. He promised on behalf of his colleagues to share what they gained from the 90 days long training programme with their colleagues back home.
The 3rd batch of 20 Imams is expected to arrive in Kuwait in November this year.
