Deputy Mayor returns from HIV/AIDS seminar in Nigeria
The Deputy Mayor of the Freetown City Council, Mary Hannah Jaiah, has returned home from Nigeria where she attended a four day seminar on HIV/AIDS organized by the Nigerian Local Councils.
In an exclusive interview with this press, the Deputy Mayor disclosed that fifty-six women from different countries were in attendance to discuss ways to control the spread of the disease across the continent. Madam Jaiah pointed out that the use of condoms forms the primary preventive measure against the epidemic while maintaining a single sex partner is another preventive step.
She entreated parents to advise their children to desist from premature sexual intercourse and concentrate on their education as that will go a long way to help them avoid contacting the virus.
The Deputy Mayor described the seminar as a proactive move by the organizers, noting that issues bordering on HIV/AIDS prevention and control and the stigmatization of people living with the disease were discussed exhaustively in the seminar which attracted distinguished ladies from all walks of life.
