“Maada Bio did not bring peace to Sierra Leone” says Ambassador John Leigh

Bio never brought peace or democracy to Sierra Leone, Mr. Williams. His claims constitute nothing but absolute false propaganda. The truth is his junta was brutal and thieving. He swiftly promoted himself from Captain to Brigadier while his initial boss remained a captain.

Bio tried several times to keep power for himself but could not. So he framed the newly elected SLPP Government of President Kabbah by feeding the purged military he left behind with false promises of greater benefits to come and imputing those reckless promises to the new SLPP President.

This produced the bloody Johnny Paul Koroma coup which the RUF joined to form the AFRC junta. As soon as that happened, Bio teamed up with Abass Bundu to help the AFRC junta keep power and Kabbah confined in Conakry.

Bundu and Bio wanted the junta to continue in power for their benefit. This was not to be. Bio knows me for my resolute fight against him, Abass Bundu, Charles Taylor and Col. Gaddafi and Johnny Paul to overthrow and evict the AFRC junta and bring Kabbah back to power in Freetown.

All the claims by Bio of the great things he said he accomplished as a junta leader are all a bunch of lies designed to fool his people, become the SLPP flag bearer and contest for president.

Many in SLPP in 2010-11 believed that SLPP was bound to defeat the APC.  That erroneous confidence was based on their confusing the APC of EBK for that of Major General Joseph Momoh and falsely believed “yesterday betteh pass tiday”.

Today, SLPP is a broken down party, brought to its knees by manufactured lies of heroism coming from someone who wants to be their permanent flag bearer.
