ACC speaks out on NaCSA Project Money Scandal
A talk of the town publication against the NaCSA District Co-coordinator in Kenema, Abdulai Fornah aka Appolos has captured the attention of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and other civil society bodies that are part in the fight against corruption in all MDAs.
According to sources, ACC has been looking with its eagle eye at the NaCSA office, and especially Mr. Abdulai Fornah since he became the Community Development Specialist, Kenema District.
Mr. Abdul Fornah was Acting District Coordinator for over thirty-six ‘Cash for Work’ projects operating under the Kenema NaCSA office. It was believed then that he failed to uphold procurement procedures for the thirty-six projects in question and other micro finance projects under the Sierra Leone Community Driven Development Projects (SLCDDP) which were funded by donors and the Sierra Leone government to massively bring development to the door steps of the people in that part of the country.
Investigations reveal that Fornah awarded the NaCSA projects to his relatives and business people who bidded to him the highest.
“The President’s ‘agenda for prosperity’, especially in agriculture, health, road construction, micro finance, human rights and other democratic activities we will follow these projects later. This publication, NaCSA Officials said, has given us a stepping stone to invite Mr. Abdulai Fornah since rumours have been reaching us that he was just enriching himself with government and donor funds meant for the poor people.
“We have identified the entire projects awarded by him, since he was the Community Development Specialist in NaCSA–Kenema. According to our investigations, about 400 to 500 million Leones project money collected by him (Abdulai Fornah) was used to erect mighty buildings, buy vehicles, disco sets and expensive furniture. We will squeeze him to produced all the cash for work projects money he embezzled,” claimed an ACC staff member.
This ACC staff (anonymous) challenged this press to bring proofs that would aid them to speedily expedite the matter. The source further said the ACC will leave no stone un-turned in the process of fighting corruption in the country.
A reliable source within the NaCSA office has informed us that Abdulai Fornah and other NaCSA officials are now having sleepless nights over the issue.
