Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority On Road Safety Week

The Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA) will on 11th May 2013 join other countries in the world to observe UN Decade of Action For Road Safety on the theme ‘Capacity Building For Road Transport Operators.’

The authority has lined up various activities to make this celebration a success along with other UN agencies and government functionaries.

The celebration will be followed by the lunching of a nationwide training programme on Road Safety targeting road transport operators. The celebration will also include sending of text messages on road safety, discussions on radio and television on road safety issues and a float parade unto the Brima Attuga Stadium where speeches will be delivered by HE President Ernest Bai Koroma, the Open Government Initiative (OGI) Director, Minister of Transport and Aviation and other transport stakeholders.

The global theme for the celebration -“Together We Can Save Millions Of Lives” as in line with five pillars of the UN  decade of action road safety which are road safety management, safer road, safer people, safe road users, and post crash  response.
