Teachers plan big demonstration in Sierra Leone
Teachers belonging to a group known as Concerned Teachers have told Sierra Express Media that they will stage a peaceful demonstration against the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for not coming up with the outcome of their investigations of the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) on alleged financial misappropriations some years back.
In an interview with this paper, the Public Relations Officer of Concerned Teachers Sierra Leone, Mr. John Bobson Sesay, said that they have asked the ACC to release their findings but they have refused to do so, noting that because they were tired with the delays and excuses of the they have decided to stage a peaceful protest in order to present their grievances to the ACC.
“We are now convinced that the ACC is not committed to indict the SLTU, that is why we will take to the streets to let the country know about our dissatisfaction,” he stressed.
Reacting to the allegation, the ACC Head of Public Education Unit, Ms. Koloneh Sankoh, said that the Commissioner of the ACC, Mr. Mr. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara would respond to the issue when he returns fro his oversea trip.
She maintained that the ACC is fully committed to eradicating corruption in the country, noting that they can only indict with evidences found in the course of their investigations.
