Commending CPA
Posterity will never forgive us if we fail to laud the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for training our Members of Parliament to perform their duties well. We believe the training is timely and relevant, considering the unpleasant fact that most of our MPs are highly inexperienced in parliamentary procedures, roles and responsibilities. Most of our parliamentarians deserve the training as this is their first experience in the House, even some old ones need the training. The CPA deserves a big accolade for the Good Samaritan job it is doing to save our MPs from continued public embarrassment.
We are very much aware of the fact that some of the MPs entered that House due to their wealth and their political parties, not because of their competence. The regionally biased voting that characterized the 2012 elections sent many visibly incompetent and mediocre politicians to our parliament, so, such MPs need to undergo intensive training, otherwise, they will keep on embarrassing that noble house and the country as a whole.
Therefore, this medium is patriotically obliged to extend tremendous thanks and appreciation to the CPA for taking the wise and timely decision to school our MPs. However, we have deemed it necessary to recommend that certain academic criteria be set for future parliamentary contestants to save the CPA from the labor and expenditure involved in travelling hundreds of miles to come and train our MPs every now and then.
