Kenemmanjane Cricket Club (KCC) Sierra Leone changes name to Kent
Kenemmanjane Cricket Club (KCC) Sierra Leone has announced that it is changing its name to Kent Cricket Club (KCC), at a special general meeting held at the Club Secretariat in Freetown, it was unanimously agreed by members that the name of the club should change. The name change will come to effect on Monday1st April, 2013 and all documents that bear Kenemmanjane Cricket Club will change to Kent Cricket Club (KCC). “This name change does not reflect a change in the Club vision and strategy or neither the acronym KCC,” said Founder of KCC, Emmanuel Pessima.
“We are fortunate to have eminent Sierra Leonean’s that are ready to take on leadership positions at the club. I am confident that these individuals will contribute to the further success of the club, I am also certain that the transformation process we are working on as a club will be instrumental in enabling KCC to offer better opportunities to young Sierra Leoneans, we will continue to focus our efforts on the development of cricket in Sierra Leone to compliment the effort of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association. In this way KCC will be able to ultimately achieve further value-oriented growth.” Pessima stated.
“I am also pleased to announce that we have made few amendments to our constitution, and we now have a new organizational structure designed to facilitate the club’s strategic plan. With the new organizational structure, we have Board Members who are responsible to advise and guide the club, and the Executive Members are responsible mainly for the day to day activities of the club. The Chairman presides over the Board Members and the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) presides over the Executive Members,” said Pessima.
“Our focus on providing integrated learning and talent solutions reflects the growing recognition among Sierra Leoneans. Our work is all targeted at helping young Sierra Leoneans build their capability for the future and improve their cricket performance through the development of robust talent pipelines and by closing skills gaps,” said Pessima.
Dr. Bob Thomas and Abdul Tejan Cole will be serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board respectively; the other Board Members are Dr. Sahr John Kpundeh, Dr. Godfrey Sam-Aggrey, Bowenson Fredrick Phillips and Omoduni George (Mrs).

Despite the financial challenges, the club has grown dramatically over the past months; its women’s team was Bronze winner at the last Sierra Leone National Women’s T20 Cricket League 2012. The success of the club continues to be driven by the club’s strong leadership skills and vision. The club Vice Chairman Abdul Tejan Cole has made countless contributions to the club; he played a key role in the equipment that the club received last year from Coaching Cricket Excellence in the UK.
