Tussle over mobile phone leaves one dead
Port Loko, March (SLENA) : An argument between two school-going pupils has resulted in the death of one.
According to eyewitness report, the argument, which involved one Alfred Kanu, a JSS3 pupil of Stephani Secondary School and Momoh Koroma, another JSS2 pupil of the Marampa Islamic Secondary School both of Lunsar Town, centered on the sale of a mobile phone, which belonged to Momoh.
Both boys had agreed on the cost of Le30,000 for the mobile, sources say.
A deposit of Le20,000 was made to Momoh by Alfred before the latter knew that the mobile phone in question was defective.
Sources say Alfred wanted to return the phone but Momoh was only interested in retrieving remaining Le10,000. They almost went into a fierce fight but were separated by some friends.
Reports say Momoh pretended to have left the scene, but returned later and approached Alfred from the back hit him twice on his left ribs. Alfred fell into coma, sources added.
Detective Inspector Alfred Basiru Sesay is the Commanding Officer, Crime Services at the Lunsar Police Station where the matter was referred to.
He told SLENA in an interview that Alfred could not survive the pain and eventually died few hours later.
He said Momoh Koroma has since been arrested and held in police custody, adding that he will subsequently be charged to court with the offence of murder.
