FC Serwo Lifts Rev-Emile Jones Trophy
FC Serwo, a Lumley-based soccer outfit, on Sunday 17th February 2013, defeated Real Mack FC 2-0 to lift the covetous Rev. Emile Jones Trophy at the MAFA playing field.
Real Mack’s 2:0 defeat came as a surprise to the jam packed stadium as spectators viewed Real Mark FC as the potential side to clinch the trophy as they emerged as one of the favorite teams in the competition. FC Serwo were dangerous in their counter attacks and they dominated the match for most of the 90 minute as Amadu Turay put FC Serwo ahead mid 1st half with a superb finisher before the break.
Real Mack FC continued their dominance in the 2nd half but were denied in all attempts by FC Serwo’s shot-stopper, Joe Kamanda who’s calculations and positioning helped his team to beat a giant Real Mack FC.
In the dying minute of the match, FC Serwo’s attacker, Musa Conteh secured a second goal to earn his team success with a giant trophy.
Presenting the gold trophy, one full set of football jerseys and a cheque of about Le500,000 to the champions, the sponsor of the competition, Rev. Emile Jones thanked all who participated in the Pentecost Evangelical Deliverance Ministry football gala including the church members and promised to organize a bigger competition in the future.
The donation was jointly done by Rev. Emile Jones and the Director of Credit of HFC Mortgage and Savings PLC, Mr. Yusuf Abdul Sillah.
The runners-up, Real Mack FC received the sum of Le300,000 and 3rd place winner-Real Friends also pocketed the sum of Le150,000.
The entire gala was colourful and witnessed by dignitaries including councilor Percy .A.J. Nicholson, Pastor-Mohamed Stevens, Rev. Henry Kallon and Pastor-Momodu .
