Dangerous bridge poses threat in Blama, Sierra Leone

The ancient bridge linking the Saint Joseph Secondary School to the rest of the Blama community in Small Bo Chiefdom, Kenema District, is reported to have become a death trap jeopardizing the precious and irreplaceable lives of residents of that community.

This has been confirmed by the councilor of the community, Mohamed Rogers during a recent ceremony marking the presentation of science equipment to the school.

Councilor Rogers noted that the danger posed by the high, narrow and dilapidated and shaky bridge has caused the relocation of the pre-school to prevent kids from venturing over it, for according to him, children as well as adults often fall while crossing the deadly bridge sometimes sustaining severe injuries.

The Councilor, therefore, called on the Chairman of the Kenema District Council, Doctor Senesie Mansaray to help rehabilitate or reconstruct the rotten bridge, a request which the Chairman promised to consider.
