Endorsing Maada Bio … Bo Mayor Disagrees with JOB
His Lordship the Mayor of the Bo City Council, Mayor Harold Logic Tucker has informed this medium that in as much as he believes in the constitution of his Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), he thinks the Chairman of the opposition SLPP, John Oponjo Benjamin (in photo) known as JOB is on the wrong track with regards the motion that the 2012 flagbearer of the SLPP Mr. Maada Bio should not be allowed to continue as flagbearer as the party is having a legal battle with the National Electoral Commission (NEC) over the 2012 electoral results that kept the party in the opposition line.
“With all due respect to our party’s constitutional provisions, I don’t support JOB’s stance that Maada should not continue to be the flagbearer of the SLPP”, the Mayor disclosed in a telephone interview on Monday. Mayor Tucker maintained that JOB’s position can affect the Supreme Court matter the SLPP has filed against NEC. He said with Maada Bio the party would improve and do much better come 2017 when the next Presidential election will be conducted.
National Publicity Sectary of the SLPP, Hon. Tamba Sam on Monday referred to JOB as a rotten tooth that needs to be plucked from the mouth to chew without any pain. He described JOB’s position on the flagbearer issue as being counter-productive to the aspiration of majority of the party stalwarts whom he said believe in the flagbearership of Mr. Bio. Hon. Tamba Sam maintained that the third resolution that was raised in favor of Maada Bio which the party’s National Executive Council adopted can only be ratified by the National Delegate Conference which will be held this year. He said JOB had no right to issue a press release nullifying the December 6th third resolution of the party.
The SLPP mouthpiece has also criticized JOB for what he described as malicious lies spread by JOB that Hon. Tamba Sam has defected to the ruling APC party. According to him, JOB should have cross-checked with him before spreading lies in Church that he had quit the party. He said the pronouncement by JOB that he had left the party is unfounded and baseless. He said he would challenge JOB to put the records straight as far these issues are concerned.
