War in the East – Kadgibs battles right of way engineers

The Local Unit Commander of Kissy Division, Superintendant A C Koroma has tendered a letter to the Director of Lands and Surveys in the Ministry of Lands requesting for an adjudication of the portion of land that is being claimed by both Khadijatu Kadgibs Koroma and Momoh Fornah along the Freetown-Waterloo highway.

Both parties have been in a severe brawl over ownership of the said portion of land which observers believe is part of the right of way. The stalemate was brought to the attention of the police after an intense battle between the two warring parties where offensive objects were and properties worth millions of Leones damaged in the process.

According to the police, both parties are making frantic claims over the ownership of the said land and have therefore tendered relevant documents to the police to substantiate their claims. The police have also requested the Director of Surveys and Land to determine the authenticity of the documents tendered by both parties in order to ascertain the rightful owner of the disputed land and to verify whether the said land is a state land or not.

Madam Khadijatu Kagibs Koroma is protesting that the construction of an illegal structure by Momoh Fornah in her premises has caused a range of problems including blockage of the main drainage of the highway, causing seasonal flooding and subsequent damage and pollution from a local pit latrine causing unsavory condition for diners and guest at her hotel.

Report reaching this press is alleging that tussle for ownership continues to intensify as SLRA engineers continue to be indicted for bad work.

Meanwhile, observers in the neighborhood have raised eyebrows over the activities of two senior engineers of the SLRA, Messrs Dixon Thorlly and Denkeh, both attached to the Authority. Both are suspected of having a stake in the current imbroglio that is fermenting trouble for both parties.
