Political Parties Registration Commission
The Commission wishes it to be known by the general public that on the 4th December 2012 it received a letter of complaint from a cross section of members belonging to the United Democratic Party requesting the Commission to mediate among the leadership of that party.
Complaints
The allegations among other things included the following:
a) Tampering with the Party’s constitution by the leadership of the Party b) No proper consensus arrived at on issues relating the future of the Party c) Lack of financial management and auditing proceduresThe complainants were: Sulaiman Bai Sesay- Secretary General of the party, Editayor George Temple and Alex B.M. Kaikai. The respondents were: Mr. Mohamed Bangura-Leader and Chairman of the party, Denis Saidu and Arnold Bendu.
Both sides stated their respective position on the issues raised.
Resolutions of the Commission
After deliberating on the complaint, the Commission came to the following conclusion:
- That there is no proof that the Party tampered with it constitution.
- As it is obligated on all Political Parties to submit their audited accounts to the Commission in March of every year; hence the United Democratic Movement is expected to submit their audited finances to the Commission by the end of March 2013.
- The Commission advised that the rest of the other matters are internal matters and must be addressed internally.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their satisfaction on the resolutions by the Commission and promised to hold a reconciliatory meeting and report back to the Commission.
