For Tax Evasion … NRA Vows to Penalize Africana
Tax evasion has been one of the major problems undermining the National Revenue Authority, (NRA’s) efforts in generating much-needed revenue for Sierra Leone.
Many unpatriotic and criminally minded commercial institutions have been in the indecent habit of evading tax, thereby depriving this nation of revenue and Sabotaging our economy.
One company that is notorious for evading tax is the Africana-Limited-Horse Fishing Company.
According to NRA Commissioner, Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, the Horse Fishing Company was caught red-handed evading tax in 2003. Mr. Kamara recalled that the company was heavily penalized and warned.
The Commissioner, however, noted that despite the warning, the Horse Fishing Company is still in the criminal habit of evading tax.
This Company, he said, has once again been caught in tax evasion. Mr. Kamara vowed that the NRA will again heavily penalize the company to discourage it from continuing the criminal practice, concluding by calling on all companies to be tax-friendly so as to enhance the Authority’s revenue generation.
