As Ambassador presents credentials…Jordanian King Assures Sierra Leone

During the presentation at a well-attended and colourful ceremony, Ambassador Kamara conveyed warmest greetings and felicitations from His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and People of the Republic of Sierra Leone to His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein.

The envoy also informed the King about President Koroma’s re-election as President and Head of State of the Republic for a second term of 5 years. The Ambassador outlined the gains made by his Government in the just concluded Agenda for Change and informed the King about the programmes enshrined in the Agenda for Prosperity in the next five years of governance.

Ambassador Kamara solicited bilateral co-operation from the Jordanian leadership in Agriculture, Aviation, Health, Education, Defense and Energy sectors; making reference to the bilateral co-operation that had existed between the two states during the pre-war years in Sierra Leone.

He conveyed profound thanks and appreciation from His Excellency the President, the Government and people of Sierra Leone for the role played by the Royal Jordanian Military contingent, especially in the medical field during the peace keeping operations of the United Nations from 1999 – 2001.

In response, King Abdullah II assured Ambassador Kamara of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s continued support in the fields of Aviation, Agriculture and Education.  He promised to extend training facilities for serving military personnel under the Jordanian training of Special Forces programme. He noted with satisfaction the rapid developmental strides that have taken place in Sierra Leone since the end of the brutal war in 2002, especially under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

The Jordanian King also promised to extend an invitation to President Ernest Bai Koroma to pay an Official Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at a convenient date.

In concluding the ceremony, Ambassador Kamara visited the Royal Cemetery and laid three wreaths on the tombs of the late King Hussein Bin Talal, the current King’s father, the late King Abdullah I Bin Al-Hussein, the grandfather of the late King Hussein, and the late King Talal Bin Abdullah, the grandfather of the reigning King, Abdullah II.

Envoy Kamara also held fruitful meetings with the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, the Chairman of Jordanian Chamber of Commerce and Senator Akel Biltaji who also played a pivotal during the said visit.

Ambassador Kamara was accompanied by his Head of Chancery Mr. Mohamed Sorie Conteh.
